Integrating Sexuality and Sex Therapy into
EFT Couples Therapy
A new clinical supervision Group, co-facilitated by:
Samantha Lutz, PhD and Angela DeCandia Vitoria, LCSW
It is very common for couples seeking relationship therapy to present with underlying issues that make their sex life unsatisfying. Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy seeks to de-escalate negative patterns in the relationship and re-build a couple’s attachment bond in order to create security, understanding and emotional intimacy. Sometimes, after a couple experiences de-escalation, or even while they are getting closer and rebuilding their bond, many couples continue to experience sexual concerns such as: differing levels of desire and sexual compatibility, problems achieving orgasm, re-engaging in the sexual part of a relationship after healing from infidelity or trauma, or the loss of sexual connection after starting a family.
Many couple therapists do not have the knowledge and skills to integrate sex assessment and intervention into the process of Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy, leaving those issues unresolved.
For this reason, we are offering a specialized EFT Supervision Group that will help you to learn how to begin integrating sex therapy into Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy. We will learn using a combination of facilitator presentation, video-tape review, experiential exercises and readings where applicable.
